Milestones are measured by impact, not age.

Late last year, GWI officially turned 10. But as Managing Partner and CEO Neil Makepeace explains, milestones are only worth celebrating if you’ve made a difference along the way.

A coming of age story that’s come a long way

GWI had a real coming of age moment last year. It had less to do with celebrating more than a decade in business, than with our evolution as a team and difference we’ve been able to make for our clients.

For more than 10 years, GWI has been giving our clients the evidence to make good decisions.

For more than 10 years, we’ve been using data and information to get to the heart of what matters.

For more than 10 years, we’ve created solutions for a better future and given our clients the bandwidth to deliver.

The work we’ve delivered — and continue to deliver — has changed. And more than that, how we look at opportunities to make a difference has changed too.

We are a team of independent advisors, trusted by our government, business and community clients to solve their most perplexing problems.

We are equipped to do this because we have talented people who are passionate about making a contribution, creating an impact. Our people volunteer their time to charities and not-for-profits. They go in boots and all to every challenge, curious and committed to unlocking the potential of information and data to create business value for our clients.

It’s this desire to make a difference that feeds our collective hunger for complexity and depth.

We tackle perplexing problems that go beyond technology, go beyond even data. We act as translators between business and IT so that organisations can uncover important insights, guide smart decisions, and remove guess-work and roadblocks.

It’s the confidence we bring that has empowered many of today’s leaders to take action.

Like enhancing the safety and wellbeing of Queensland’s most vulnerable children and young people, by acting as a broker between government agencies and departments to enable the timely sharing of data and information.

Like stabilising the economic and environmental future of the Bundaberg region, by securing essential funding to help protect the world’s most significant breeding ground of loggerhead turtles.

Like building a compelling business case for a Smart Hub in Rockhampton, to stimulate economic growth and sustainability in their tight-knit community.

GWI has been doing work that matters for more than 10 years. But it’s not this anniversary milestone that is a source of pride for me, nor for our people. Nor is it a measure of our success as a business.

GWI’s collective pride is in GWI’s ongoing role in defining moments that have the power to shape society and create a better future.

It’s this coming of age story I’m happy and proud for us to share — and keep on sharing well beyond the next milestone.
